July's Wish List

weheartit
What's occurring bloggieees?! So as a student, I'm so damn poor right now until pay day (end of the month) so I thought to further torment myself, I would make a wish list each month and see what people think and whether I can justify their cost. This month's theme is based on the amaaazing reviews I have heard on other blogs about these products. Lemme know if you've tried any of these and what you thought so I can further justify these purchases:

FOTD & Hair Update

I'm a very lucky girlfriend! I was having a hard time and to cheer me up, Sam took me shopping around Colchester. You know if a girl is very upset if she doesn't see anything she wants to buy (he was genuinely shocked). We got to Williams & Griffiths and I had a look around the MAC counter for some eyeshadows. After some advice from the lovely counter girl, Sam told me whatever I want, he'll get if it puts a smile back on my face...and it did the job! The three pots are used above along with a light line of black gel eyeliner. As much as I love the colours, I think I may need to invest in a couple more good quality eye brushes as I don't think the ones I have really did the colours justice. I'm a very happy bunny to have such a lovely boyfriend.

HAIR.
So I went to my hairdressers yesterday to sort out the state I call my hair! I have been very naughty and haven't been looking after it as well as I needed to therefore I have made a conscience decision to work on my hair. I've been dying for longer hair so I have created and decided to take on the hair challenge! From now on, there are some hair commandments I shall keep without fail to attempt to get the luscious locks I have long desired for.

1. I will keep a weekly record of my progress.
2. I will keep getting six-weekly trims.
3. I will not use heat on my hair more than 3 times a week.
4. When using heat, I will always use heat protection.
5. I will use hair mayonnaise once a week under a hair hood for 20 minutes.
6. I will only brush my hair once in the morning & once at night with a natural bristle brush.
7. I will drink more water, take vitamins and ensure I have had my 5 a day to promote hair growth.
8. In the sun, I will put appropriate hair protection in my hair.
  9. I will loosely tie my hair back when I go to bed at night
10. Whenever I wear my hair up, I will not tie it too tight or comb it too roughly.

After three months, I will comment on whether any or all of these commandments have improved the health and aesthetics of my hair.
Week One:
Hair Length 33cm
Hair mayo applied.
Trim given.
Straightened twice, heat protection applied twice.

I tag you to undertake this challenge and see how much healthier your hair looks and feels.

FOTD: Lazy Monday

Where did the summer go?! I had a list as long as my arm of chores I needed to do today but the current rain has left me looking longingly outside. My hair is starting to look very abused and tired so I think a trip to the hairdressers is well overdue. I know for a fact my hairdresser is going to take one look at my home dyed hair and tell me off for going too light (sorry, sorry!) which I deserve as my hair has been feeling a lil' dry recently. Currently trialing out this product which is suppose to make my hair healthier and help it grow faster so what this space for the results! Debating whether to cut my fringe short or keep it long, thoughts?

New hair for the summer

As much as I have loved my red hair, I really need a new change for the spring/summer (red hairdye on my pillow is getting tiresome). I'm thinking about going brunette again but less of the chocolate and more of the light/highlighted colouring and before you ask, no I will not go blonde, it just wouldn't suit me at all. Lighter hair would suit a tan much more and it would be good to see what I'd look like without my darker locks. Heres a couple lil' hair inspirations I've picked up along the way...

What do you think?

Shopping Haul

Sales + Christmas money = Lots of goodies!

I adore sale shopping! I hate having to pay full price for things I want (although I am getting better) so these are a few goodies I bought over the past couple of days. Expect many more of these as student loan day always ends in a trip to Westfields (five girls, 20 minutes on the DLR = SHOPPING GALORE).

Closer Look
MUA Mosaic Bronzer in Natural Glow

I rate Make Up Academy especially for poor students who want to revamp their look. This bronzer was £2.50 and looks very natural when applied with a bronzing brush. The only downside to this bronzer is that it comes out slightly glittery so its only really appropriate for the apples of your cheeks, not as an all over face bronzer unless you want to look like someone out of Twilight. Nevertheless, for the money I paid, it impressed me.

Look Beauty Statement Eyes in Demin
Shade 10
Very pigmented & flattering
This was the first time I found this make up brand in Superdrug but thought I'd give it a try. Look magazine designed and made this range and if this eyeshadow is anything to go by, I'm impressed. The colour is very pigmented and blends well with out colours and shades. I tried it with a smokey eye and looked gorgeous blended with black, gunmetal grey, white and a lighter blue. Just don't be too heavy handed when applying! Gradually layer and smudge the eyeshadows together otherwise risk blue cheeks and a dirty eye look.

MUA Eyeshadow in Shade 31
So much love for this!

I own many different eyeshadow colours from MUA and they never disappoint me! At £1 each they're a bargain and are long lasting. I usually have to reapply with some eyeshadows (cough, Rimmel) so this was a breath of fresh air. Similarly to the Look eyeshadow, you're better off building up the colour and blending it with a good brush.

MUA lipstick in Shade 5
I was initially disappointed with this lipstick. Too much glitter, too much barbiesque. The colour itself looks gorgeous but I found myself blotting my lips much more than usual to try and get rid of the sparkle. It's still very longwearing and doesn't bleed as much as I thought it would. When removing the lipstick, the glitter goes all over the place so be careful. However, I would still wear this but make sure I apply lipcote after application. For the money I paid (£1 bargain!) I would still repurchase this.

Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Cherry

I adore this lipstick! I've heard so many good things from other bloggers when it comes to Sleek make up so I wanted to try for myself. It's very long lasting and looks gorgeous for those with olive skin & darker hair. I'm growing tired of lipgloss so I'm starting to experiment with lipstick which I'm very impressed with so far. If you're going to wear such a daring colour on your lips, I would suggest leaving the rest of the face quite natural and subtle to stop the 'drag queen' look from stirring up!

ASOS have a great sale on their website at the moment and I found some gorgeous items much cheaper than they were previously (much more reasonable!). I love it when shops do decent sales instead of just discounting their less than flattering pieces.
Was £8 NOW £3
£6
No longer listed.
So at least I'm keeping to my new year resolutions! I'm almost certain I'll be adding more to my collection...poor bank account! I also bought a new suitcase for Paris next month, soo excited! Going to Dublin at the end of the month to see family for the weekend, I miss Ireland, it feels like home whenever I go over there. Until then, back to uni on Saturday so expect some more uni related posts. So until then...

2012: New Year Resolutions.

Each year I promise myself I won't make any new year resolutions and each year I fail to keep that promise. This year I decided to be more realistic (last year I promised myself I would have a hospital free year...I probably spent the majority of the year in there). So this year, only resolutions I have made are ones that are in my control:

Experiment with more food recipes (happy flatmates & boyfriend!)
Eat healthy
Enjoy university life
Keep up with uni work & get a good grade for my first year
Blog often and honestly
Look after my skin & my appearance better (no more sleeping in make up)
Take more photos
Be less lazy
Drink more water
Treat my Mum more often...and I suppose Ben could do with a treat or two!
Look after my hair colouring better
Look after my hair extensions
Travel more
Visit friends at university
Extend my perfume & make up collection
Be more confident & act with conviction

There was no point in making unrealistic resolutions therefore although I have made 16 resolutions, they are achievable and aimed towards me bettering myself and others. The temptation to write more down is overwhelming but there is nothing stopping me from making a mid- year resolution or two if I achieve the first 16! Family and friends are a huge part of my life so I want to ensure resolutions involving them are the highest priority. Expect me to use my blog more often too. I made this last year but didn't have the motivation to keep it. However as it is the new year, perfect excuse! Those who follow me on Facebook & Twitter know that I am partial to a rant or two so expect those from time to time but I primarily want to embrace the girly & law student side of me on here. Fingers crossed!

Realistic? What are your resolutions? Do you believe in them?
